This is a badass song. Its just pure anger and badassedness. Its unforunate that Em was involved with it because people sort of forgot it was Dre and obsessed over Em's side lyrics and somewhat annoying chorus. It got really trendy and people just disregarded any meaning to it.

Dre's part is awesome. It would have been an even better song if they omitted Em or just put in someone else because his purpose is only for backup and to reverberate Dre.

This song is Dre basically saying how sh*tty mainstream rap is today and how he pioneered it and made it amazing. Yet these new rappers were coming out with their dumbass groups and gangs acting like they knew started rapping before anyone else. And he sort of just goes over his career which utterly proves he's done so much for the rap culture and he gets little or no credit from the mainstream.
    I love this line,

"This is the millenium of AftermathAin't gonna be nothin after thatSo give me one more platinum plaque and f*ck rapYou can have it back"

Hes saying that this is his last go at it and hes going to just show up every rapper just to show them how rap is done. Then when he owns the industry again like he had back in the day he just gives it back because he knows its nothing these days and at any given time a real rapper like him can dominate it if they want to.

this song is a clever satire on the nefarious ways in which jealous hip-hop artists of the common era tend to neglect the presence of doctor dre as one of the tried and true driving forces responsible for the current--and seemingly utopic--state of the hip-hop scene that those same unobservant rappers take for granted. dre so provocatively reminds his fellow artists that he does in fact still have ubiquitous amounts of cheese, G's, wheels, keys, boats, snowmobiles, and skis, among other possessions.

dre, phD is so boldly innovative; yet he executes his awe-inspiring poetry in such humble and simple fashion.

    really, really powerful stuff..............

Jesse with the long hair.... Robert Earl Keen, Jr. Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's. Standing On The Edge Of Summer Thursday In regards to the meaning of this song:Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul. Fast Car Tracy Chapman "Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time. Bron-Y-Aur Stomp Led Zeppelin This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping. Holiday Bee Gees @[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
