Mckinley -- Ruth Willard McKinley, born on March 27, 1928, passed away September 3, 2000 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her three children, Anita Willard, Cindy Willard Roybal, and Steve Willard, along with her children's spouses, Bill Niendorff, Luis Roybal and Kim Willard. She leaves six grandchildren, Robin Willard Niendorff, Risa and Alegra Roybal and Eli, Teo and Schuyler Willard. Ruth moved to New Mexico in 1952 to work at the Espanola Hospital as a missionary nurse for the Methodist Church. She met and married Frank Willard Jr. in 1953, who predeceased her in death in 1986. She lived most of her life in Espanola then later moved to Belen and enjoyed the ranching life with her most recent husband, Wayne McKinley. Ruth was an active member of the Belen Baptist Church and volunteered for various programs such as literacy, Red Cross, domestic violence and participated in breast cancer support groups. Ruth was loved and admired for her thoughtfulness, generosity and wisdom. Her children and grandchildren were the loves of her life, as was traveling to faraway places. Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Belen (off Main, east on Becker) on September 16, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Presbyterian Hospice Program, 8300 Constitution Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, (505) 559-1133. Bauer -- Grace M. Bauer, 83, a resident of Belen, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2000 at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on October 17, 1916 at Dupre, South Dakota, the daughter of Hannah and William Duke. She graduated from St. John's High School in Omaha, Nebraska and Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas. She taught school for 15 years in the State of Kansas, starting from a one room schoolhouse in Hodgeman County, and ending at North Reno Elementary School, Hutchinson, Kansas. After retiring from teaching, she indulged her love of home improvement by buying and remodeling homes in Nebraska, Colorado, and New Mexico. Although she very much enjoyed world travel, she particularly loved New Mexico for its culture and climate. She is survived by her sons, Philip M. Bauer of Plano, TX and Michael R. Bauer of Murphy, TX; a brother, William P. Duke of Belen; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., August 5, 2000 in Browns Grove Cemetery, Burdett, Kansas. She will be remembered for her generous heart, love of the written word, and ready wit. Mckee -- John DeWitt (Jack), McKee, age 80, died on April 26, 2000, in Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. He was cerebal palsied at birth. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis DeWitt and Mary Emma McKee and a brother, Ellwood M. of Philadelphia, PA. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette, a brother, Donald P., of Kerrville, TX, a sister-in-law, Helen McKee of Philadelphia, PA, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families, and many friends. McKee was born on December 22, 1919 in Emporia, KS. Early on throughout his school years, he was a writer, reporter, editor, columnist, and later a rewrite man for the Albuquerque Tribune. He graduated from Concordia, KS High School in 1938, then earned a bachelor's degree magna cum laude at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, KS in 1943. When the family later moved to Albuquerque, Jack enrolled in the graduate school at the University of New Mexico. There he became sports information director and also managing editor of Alumnus Magazine. From 1952 through 1958 he was a junior fellow, graduate assistant, teaching assistant and instructor of English. He graduated with a PhD in American Studies in 1959. In the fall of 1959 he became a faculty member of the Humanities Department at the New Mexico Institute of of Mining and Technology in Socorro, NM. He was Assistant Professor from 1959-1966, Associate, 1966-1970 and full Professor from 1970 to 1985 when he retired as Professor Emeritus. In Socorro Jack and his wife joined the First Presbyterian Church, and he became an elder. He soon began to edit the church's newsletter, The Courier, in which he wrote a column called Between You and Me which he contributed monthly (except June and July) for 18 years, up to his death. Meanwhile he was appointed to the planning council of NM Developmental Disabilities, Socorro County Services for the Handicapped (later, TRESCO) and United Cerebral Palsy. He also took part in the economic concerns of the handicapped, received the Who's Crippled? award from The National Society for Crippled Children and Adults (now Easter Seal Society). Further, he received a Distinguished Service Award from Kansas Wesleyan in 1991. He was a member of the Society of Professional Journalists (Sigma Delta Chi), Socorro County Historical Society, New Mexico Folklore Society, Friends of the Socorro Public Library, Menaul Historical Library of the Southwest (Albuquerque), Kappa Tau Alpha, Phi Alpha Theta and Pi Gamma Nu. He is also listed in the 55th edition of Who's Who in America. He has written numerous articles, letters, essays, poetry, and some fiction. His books are Two Legs to Stand On, My Battle with Cerebral Palsy; William Allen White: Maverick on Main Street; and Time of Trouble, Time of Triumph: A Centenial History of the First Presbyterian Church of Socorro, NM. He was also published in other books and in quarterly magazines. This multi-faceted person spent his life fighting the battle of literacy. But he also liked to try his hand at water coloring and enjoyed travelling around New Mexico. Although he had several overlapping careers, he sometimes felt he hadn't done enough. He was a person who had the common touch. A Memorial service will be held at Macey Center on the NM Tech campus on May 26, 2000 at 3:00 p.m.

Douglass -- Florence E. (Betty) Douglass, 79, formerly a resident of Belen from 1968-1996 and now a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on July 16, 1999. Betty was born on August 30, 1919 in Trinidad, CO to Louis R. and Florence H. Douglass. Betty retired from Las Lunas Hospital and Training School in 1984, where she was associated with the x-ray department for 16 years. Betty's x-ray training and early years were spent in Colorado where she pursued her career, moving to Nevada in the early 1950's. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church, American Society of Radiological Technologists, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and the New Mexico Society of Radiologic Technologists, as well as the Colorado Society of Radiologic Technologists. Betty was also a member of the order of the Rainbow Girls and Delta, Delta, Delta Sorority at the University of Colorado in Boulder. She moved here from Boulder City, NV where she worked as an x-ray technologist at the Boulder City Hospital for 12 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Betty is survived by her nieces, Judy Douglass of Austin, TX; Dale Douglass of Louback, TX; her nephews, Scott and Rob Douglass, also of Austin, TX; two grand nephews, Ryan and Eric; her very close cousins, Dorothy, Helen, and Bill Eames, all of Albuquerque, NM. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., also at Romero Funeral Home. Interment will take place in the Masonic Cemetery in Trinidad, CO on Wednesday, July 21, 1999. Betty and her family request that any donations be made to the charity of your choice. Waggoner -- J. Wilton Waggoner, 83, a resident of Belen, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 2, 1999 at Kaseman Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. Wilton was born in Roane, Texas on January 20, 1916 to Thomas Willard and Lavada (Parker) Waggoner. His family moved to Clovis when he was a baby and later moved to Belen. He graduated from Belen High School in 1935. Wilton went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad in December of 1936 in the Belen Freight yards. In 1980, he retired as Supervisor of Operations after 44 years of service in the Belen Freight yards. Wilton was a Charter member of the First United Methodist Church in Belen following its reorganization in 1948. He served in many areas of the church, from janitor to Board of Trustee Chairman, and during the enlargement of the church from 1981-1982 he was Building Supervisor. He was also a longtime member of Bethlehem Masonic Lodge #56. He was raised to the sublime Degree of Master Mason on May 31, 1945 by his brother-in-law, Landon Abel. He served as Worshipful Master during 1955, District Deputy Grand Master in 1956 of the 5th Masonic District, and on October 11, 1945, he received the 33rd degree Scottish JGHS Santa Fe Scottish Rite Degree. He worked in the Scottish Rite Degrees in Santa Fe from 1946 until 1980, at which time health problems dictated giving up the degree work. Wilton also served as the Worthy Patron of Eastern Star, Jessamine Chapter #45 in 1950, and the Advisory Board of DeMolay Boys and Rainbow Girls. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruby of the family home in Belen; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Elvin Brown of Grants, NM; and son and daughter-in-law, James and Sue of Laramie, WY; four grandchildren, James Robert (Bob) Atwood of Belen, Rebecca Sue (Becky) Hyduke of Albuquerque, James William (Bill) and John Alan Waggoner of Laramie, WY; two sisters, Helen Louise Ray of Belen and Mary Eunice (Tess) of Amherst, OH. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Romero Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 1999, 2:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Belen, with Pastor Jay Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in the Terrace Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Atwood, Becky Hyduke, Bill Waggoner, John Waggoner, Leroy Burson, Ed Auge, and Richard Brower. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Roberts, Dr. Ralph Brower, Ray Auge, Nick Nichols, Raul Pedroza, John McCoy, Rev. Sam Kreider, and the Brothers of Bethlehem Lodge #56. Miller -- Maynard Miller, 69, passed away peacefully on February 25 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ina; his devoted daughter, Anita Bine; and loving grandchildren, Sara and Rachel Bine of St. Paul MN. He is also survived by his brothers, Stanley (Hilda) Miller of Tustin, CA and Joseph (Barbara) Miller of Rockville, MD; and his sister Judith (Les) Berman of Louisville, KY; eights nieces and nephews; and six grandnieces and nephews. His mother, Fannie of Santa Ana, CA also survives him. He was predeceased by his daughter, Diana Miller; and his father, Israel Abraham Miller. He had a special relationship with exchange"children" Martine Bono of Garches, France, Mladen Veljic of Belgrade, Yugoslavia, Susanne Kachlik of Berlin, Germany; Alfred Nordmann (Germany) of Columbia, SC, Per Frejvall of Saltsjobaden, Sweden, and Pavlinka Georgiev (Yugoslavia) of Melbourne, Australia; and his"grandson" Aaron Goodman of Albuquerque. He was born and grew up in Maine, graduating from the University of Michigan with a BBA & MBA in accounting. He had an illustrious career as a Certified Public Accountant, serving for many years as a partner with KPMG Peat Marwick, the international accounting firm. Maynard gave consistently of his time and expertise to many organization both her and abroad. He was appointed by several Governors to the State Board of Finance, the State Board of Accounting, and most recently to the Educational Retirement Board. He served on several committees of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. As a member and chairman of the State of New Mexico Museum of Natural History Foundation, he helped to raise the money to build the museum. Other organizations included the Girl Scouts, Rotary Club of Albuquerque, Carrie Tingley Hospital, Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, New Mexico Symphony, and June Music Festival. As a Volunteer Executive for the International Executive Service Corps, he served with Ina in Columbia, Ecuador, India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan. He also was sent by the Rotary Foundation to do accounting work in India for the Polio Project. His main interests were travel, travel photography, classical music and civic activities. His loves were his family and friends. Maynard will be remembered as a kind, gentle, caring human being with a good sense of humor and great compassion for those less fortunate. He will be sorely missed by many organizations and individuals whose lives he touched. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle NE on Saturday, March 20 at 10:00 a.m. No flowers please. Oetinger -- Constance Ruth Oetinger, 66, of Normal, Illinois, died at 4:00 p.m., October 3, 1998, at her daughter's home in Normal. The graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 10, 1998, in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. A memorial also will be held October 13, 1998 in the afternoon at Walter and Frances Haussamen's in Albuquerque. Arrangements are by Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, IL. She was born April 24, 1932 in Sterling, Colorado, the daughter of David E. and Eleanor M. Ramsey Park. She married Walter Lee Oetinger in 1960 in Albuquerque. He died in 1971. Surviving is one daughter, Aleda Diggins, with whom she made her home; one son, Douglas Lee Oetinger of Chicago, IL; one sister, Frances Haussamen of Albuquerque; two brothers, David E. Park, Jr. of Truth or Consequences, NM and William Park of Spring, TX. Mrs. Oetinger served most recently as Chief Executive Officer of Lincolnland Visiting Nurse Association in Mattoon, IL, and previously held administrative positions within the home health field in the following locations: Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Louisiana, and Texas. She held a diploma in Nursing from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Denver. CO. While raising her children as a widow, Mrs. Oetinger obtained a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and a Master's degree in Political Science, both from Wichita State University. In 1975, she was honored to be the first woman elected to the city council in Hesston, Kansas, serving until 1981. Oetinger -- Constance Ruth Oetinger, 66, of Normal, Illinois, died at 4:00 p.m., October 3, 1998, at her daughter's home in Normal.
